As we age, our body changes

As we age, our body changes. Our skin is not an exception, and it goes through its own set of transitions as well. One of those transitions happens as early as age 40 as the collagen production in the dermis layer decreases which causes wrinkles, fine lines, and other visible signs of aging to show up.

 To keep our skin soft and supple, it is important to follow certain measures of skin care.

Firstly, it is necessary to cleanse your face with soft cloths or soft sponges while avoiding the eye area. The idea behind this measure is that softness of fabric cleans without damage while avoiding sensitive parts of skin around eyes. Avoid harsh cleaners that dry and damage our skin.

Secondly, keep your skin always hydrated. Use body butters that are soft to the touch but do not clog pores. If you have dry or normal skin type, use body butters in the morning while in the evening body souffles (which contain many soft oils) are a better option.

For people over the age of forty, there are a lot of ways make sure that their complexions look soft and youthful including: getting enough sleep (eight hours per night), drinking plenty of water, eating foods high in antioxidants such as blueberries, strawberries, and grapefruits. Limiting stress through meditation or yoga classes and daily exercising will help keep you living longer and stronger!

Eating foods that have a high glow factor is also recommended.  For example, carrots and tomatoes are very beneficial for your skin because they contain vitamin A (otherwise known as retinol) which improves the texture of your skin by lightening scars and softening wrinkles.  Also, eating eight ounces of fresh fish every day will provide you with omega-3 fatty acids which in return make your skin soft and glowing in no time.

Skin care after age 40 also includes protection against damaging elements of external environment such as sun's ultraviolet rays, pollution, wind or dust particles. To achieve maximum results in this regard, it is best to use soft soaps with soft fragrances.

Another important aspect in life after age 40 is to guard against potential facial problems such as sun damage, acne scarring and fine lines under the eyes. It's true that we cannot stop aging but we can definitely slow it down!

One last important thing that should be part of any skin care routine after age 40 is regular exfoliating and scrubbing for soft skin results but, avoid scrubs that contain harsh chemicals because they will damage your skin instead of softening it.

If you want soft and supple skin without wrinkles or other signs of aging, take all these factors into consideration when designing your skin care regimen.
