About Robin Van Niekerk
Robin was born in South Africa and grew up sailing the world with his family aboard a small sailboat. Subsequently raised and educated in Berkeley, California. In 2007 he embarked on a 4-year circumnavigation of the globe sailing to over 40 different islands and countries aboard a 49’ catamaran named “Life’s A Dream”. In 2011, he made Hawaii his permanent home where his love for the ocean and nature was deepened through his connection to Hawaiian spirituality and culture. Seeing the coral reefs, oceans, and beautiful tourist destinations degrade throughout his lifetime, he decided to make a difference. He started Kokua Sun Care with the intent to spread the word about chemicals poisoning our oceans and to allow him to give back through reef safe + ocean initiatives and support for ocean-loving non-profits. Kokua Sun Care has since spread globally through a commitment to quality ingredients and the environment.
