We’ve given you an introduction into the White Label sector, but do you know what to look for (and what to look out for?) If you’re a business or entrepreneur looking to step into the White Label world, then you certainly want to make your first steps successful and informed. 

Even if you’re already involved in the industry, it always gets to remember and refresh what to look out for and what to focus on in ensuring white label works as efficiently for you as possible.

Here are 5 Do’s and 5 Don’ts to ensure your business can take advantage of White Label and properly implement it into your business strategy:

DO Find A Good Fit For Your Goals

Remember what you’re using white label for. Whether it’s for your product or service, be sure the planned result will be to enhance your sales, your brand awareness, and accomplish other goals you have in mind. If the white labeling process is for something with a different vision than your business goals, reconsider your intentions in getting the product or service white labeled by that particular company.

The last thing you want to do is waste time and money on something with no results, so be sure to check out the website of whichever company you’re talking to in white labeling. If you know who you’re dealing with in white labeling your product or service, you’ll have a much easier time determining whether they’re going to help you reach the vision you have for your business.

 

DO Know Your Customization & Test Drive Options

When it comes to white label, customization is key. A particular labeling that may work for one client might be off-putting to another. Be sure you get familiar with the features and options of the white label company you’re talking with, and some of these features may include different interfacing options to something as simple as a change in color.

Ask about how you can get a test drive of the product or service. It’s vital to see what the end result looks and feels like so any important changes can be made before the product or service is launched out to the target market. A faulty interface or an unappealing appearance can easily deter consumers, and making the change after a deterrence is much harder than doing a simple test drive.

DO Find Out The Data Protection Rules

Any product or service that has data capturing methods will need to follow data protection regulations like HIPPA or GDPR. Ensure that your white label company will be able to abide by these regulations and provide data and information security to prevent any data breaches which can quickly lead to the product or service (and your business) into a branding nightmare. You want to be sure your customers know they can trust their information with your product or service.

A successful white label company will have a solid reputation and track record on the products and services they’ve boosted into success. Check out what products and services they’ve worked on in the past and find out how experienced they are at being a white label partner.

 

THE DON'TS

 

 

DON’T Simply Go For The Cheapest

Saving costs in the white label process is great, but don’t go for the cheapest without understanding what else is being cut. The goal of white labeling a product or service is to transform that product or service into something that appeals to consumers, and if going cheap means less benefits for the consumer and for your business, you may lose out on the results that made white label appeal to you in the first place.

 

DON’T Ignore Inconsistent Branding History

You know how you want to treat your customers. Does the white label company know how? Be sure to check up on the branding history of the white label company. If they lack communication or don’t take your goals or vision into consideration, they aren’t going to give your customers the same level of care that you have for them. White labeling is a method to make your brand reach out better to your target market; don’t let inconsistent standards between you and the white label company turn that into a negative customer experience.

 

DON’T Miss Product/Service Training

It’s important to get not just you but your staff informed about the white labeled product or service. Any training that needs to be understood to operate it should be given out to your company so they aren’t left in the dark when your consumers go back to you about any questions they may have. Something as simple as a live demo or a training booklet can do the trick.

 

DON’T Forget About The Provider’s Market

White label companies have target markets, and if both you and the white label company sell directly to the same market, you may run into some conflict in getting your brand out. Be sure your markets do not compete with one another and that your product or service to be white labeled is a process that makes both parties happy.

 

DON’T Get Lost in White Label

Remember to maintain your brand identity. The possibilities of white label can be overwhelming if you lose sight of your core vision as your business is one of many that are dealing with the same white label company. Don’t be afraid to give some input in the white labeling process, as it’s still your product or service. The creative input of two parties works better than just one, especially when the end goal is to create a brand that appeals to a target market. 

 

Communication Is Key



 

 

With these Do’s and Don’ts in mind, remember to maintain good communication. It’s an obvious but often overlooked or forgotten fact that good communication is key when working with other parties. You would be surprised how many business deals fall through because communication was not properly maintained or established!
